This little book puts forward an interesting hypothesis that the USA is rich because of the “Right to Choose.” To demonstrate the hypothesis, the author links freedom to specific individual choices of work, home, use of time, use of money, expression, education, religion, representative government, fundamental human rights, unconstraining customs, responsibility, the idea of corporation, responsible monopoly where needed, combining resources, energy, and technology to create wealth, and respect for the customer, the job, and the competence with which it is performed. Great!

The author warns of “two mistaken ideas”: (a) that the USA is rich because it was produced from an “energetic strains [of a] superior population, and (b) that the USA “is a land of superabundant natural resources where riches are easily obtained”. Far from these mistaken ideas, the author concludes, “one can demonstrate much more clearly that the primary factor has been The Right to Choose”
